Slovenian Keyboard Online

The layout at a glance

This Slovenian virtual keyboard mirrors the QWERTZ layout of a physical Slovenian keyboard. Its 48 character keys reach the 33 letters of the Latin script (U+0041–U+005A, U+0061–U+007A, U+00C0–U+024F) straight from the browser, with no software to install and no system setting to change.

The layout reaches 21 characters that an ordinary Latin keyboard does not carry: ¤ § ¨ ° ´ ¸ × ß ÷ ć č đ ł š ž ˇ ˘ ˙ ˛ ˝ €.

25 further characters come from the AltGr key (Alt on mobile): ~ ˇ ^ ˘ ° ˛ ` ˙ ´ ˝ \ | € ÷ × [ ] ł Ł ß ¤ @ { } §.

How to type in Slovenian

  1. Click the on-screen keys or type on your physical keyboard — both write into the same text area.
  2. Shift shows the second layer of every key: capitals and the characters printed at the top right.
  3. AltGr (Alt on mobile) shows the third layer, the characters printed at the bottom right.
  4. The Copy button puts the whole text on the clipboard, ready to paste into an email, a document or a form.
  5. The Google, YouTube and ChatGPT buttons run a search with the text you typed, without retyping it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I type the Slovenian letters č, š and ž?

They have dedicated keys: š to the right of P, č and ž on the home row to the right of L. Shift gives Č, Š and Ž.

Why are ć and đ on a Slovenian keyboard?

Slovenia shares its layout with Croatia, so ć and đ are there too. In Slovenian they only appear in foreign names.

Why are Y and Z swapped?

It is a QWERTZ layout, like the German one, because Z is far more common than Y in Slovenian.

Where are @, € and the brackets?

Alt Gr + V gives @, Alt Gr + E gives €, Alt Gr + F and G give [ ], and Alt Gr + B and N give { }.

How many letters does the Slovenian alphabet have?

25. It has no q, w, x or y, and č, š and ž are separate letters placed after c, s and z.

Can I type Croatian or Serbian Latin with it?

Yes. The layout also has ć and đ, so it covers Croatian, Bosnian and Serbian written in Latin letters.
