This Catalan virtual keyboard mirrors the QWERTY layout of a physical Catalan keyboard. Its 48 character keys reach the 37 letters of the Latin script (U+0041–U+005A, U+0061–U+007A, U+00C0–U+024F) straight from the browser, with no software to install and no system setting to change.
The layout reaches 20 characters that an ordinary Latin keyboard does not carry: ¡ ¨ ª ¬ ´ · º ¿ à ç è é í ï ñ ò ó ú ü €.
20 further characters come from the AltGr key (Alt on mobile): \ | @ # ~ € ¬ é è ü ú í ó ò [ ] à ï { }.

How to type in Catalan
Click the on-screen keys or type on your physical keyboard — both write into the same text area.
Shift shows the second layer of every key: capitals and the characters printed at the top right.
AltGr (Alt on mobile) shows the third layer, the characters printed at the bottom right.
The Copy button puts the whole text on the clipboard, ready to paste into an email, a document or a form.
The Google, YouTube and ChatGPT buttons run a search with the text you typed, without retyping it.
Key reference table
Each row is one physical key: the base character, the one produced with Shift, then the one produced with AltGr.

Other keyboards in the Latin script
These keyboards are written in the same script and share much of their character set.
How do I type Catalan accented letters (à, è, é, í, ï, ò, ó, ú, ü)?
Press Alt Gr, then the key: A gives à, E gives é, R gives è, I gives í, K gives ï, O gives ó, P gives ò, U gives ú and Y gives ü. Add Shift for capitals.
How do I type the middle dot of l·l (ela geminada)?
Press Shift + 3 to get the middle dot (·) between the two l’s, as in "col·legi" or "il·lusió".
Where is the ç key?
ç has its own key at the end of the home row, as on the Spanish keyboards used in Catalonia, Valencia, Andorra and the Balearic Islands.
Is there an official Catalan keyboard layout?
No. Catalan speakers use the Spanish ISO layout, which already has ç. This keyboard keeps that layout and adds direct Alt Gr shortcuts for every Catalan accented vowel.
Where is Catalan spoken?
In Catalonia, the Valencian Community (where it is called Valencian), the Balearic Islands, Andorra, where it is the only official language, and the town of Alghero in Sardinia: about 10 million speakers in all.
When does Catalan use a grave, an acute or a diaeresis?
The grave marks open vowels (à, è, ò) and the acute closed ones (é, í, ó, ú). The diaeresis splits a diphthong, as in "veïna", or makes the u heard in güe and güi, as in "pingüí".
