Albanian Keyboard Online

The layout at a glance

This Albanian virtual keyboard mirrors the QWERTZ layout of a physical Albanian keyboard. Its 48 character keys reach the 31 letters of the Latin script (U+0041–U+005A, U+0061–U+007A, U+00C0–U+024F) straight from the browser, with no software to install and no system setting to change.

The layout reaches 19 characters that an ordinary Latin keyboard does not carry: ¤ § ¨ ° ´ ¸ × ß ç ë ÷ đ ł ˇ ˘ ˙ ˛ ˝ €.

21 further characters come from the AltGr key (Alt on mobile): ~ ˇ ˘ ° ˛ ` ˙ ´ ˝ ¨ ¸ € ÷ × đ Đ ł Ł ß ¤ §.

How to type in Albanian

  1. Click the on-screen keys or type on your physical keyboard — both write into the same text area.
  2. Shift shows the second layer of every key: capitals and the characters printed at the top right.
  3. AltGr (Alt on mobile) shows the third layer, the characters printed at the bottom right.
  4. The Copy button puts the whole text on the clipboard, ready to paste into an email, a document or a form.
  5. The Google, YouTube and ChatGPT buttons run a search with the text you typed, without retyping it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I type ç and ë?

ç is to the right of P and ë is to the right of L. Shift gives Ç and Ë.

Why is the Albanian keyboard QWERTZ?

Like most Central European layouts, it swaps Y and Z.

Where is the @ sign?

It has its own key, to the right of ç. Alt Gr + V gives it too.

How do I write dh, gj, ll, nj, rr, sh, th, xh and zh?

These digraphs are separate letters of the Albanian alphabet but are written as two ordinary keys. Only ç and ë need special keys.

How many letters does the Albanian alphabet have?

36, including 9 digraphs (dh, gj, ll, nj, rr, sh, th, xh, zh) and the two letters with diacritics, ç and ë.

Does it work for Albanian in Kosovo and North Macedonia?

Yes. Standard Albanian uses the same alphabet in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia, so the keyboard covers all of them.
